Ex-KORN Guitarist BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH: 'I'm On Fire For The Lord More Than Ever'
September 20, 2006Former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has confirmed that an online message attributed to him last week was in fact the work of a hacker.
A message was posted on Welch's Head to Christ web site on Thursday (Sept. 14) — purportedly coming from Welch himself — stating that he had discussions with KORN frontman Jonathan Davis and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer about returning to the band.
"I've been speaking with Jon and Munk about us and the split," the apparently false statement read. "And finally I can say that I'm taking the right side of the stage again for our next KORN tour and album.
"I'm so excited! I will post more later. Peace all."
Davis subsequently addressed the rumors via a message passed on by the administrators of the official KORN message boards.
"It's bullshit," Davis said. "Not real. False, incorrect, deceitful, not real.
"Head is NOT coming back to KORN. Repeat, Head is not back in KORN."
In a new posting on his official blog (dated Sept. 18),Welch wrote, "No, I am not going back to KORN. Someone hacked into my site. I will be announcing what my real plans are soon. One thing I can tell you is, I'm on fire for the Lord more than ever, and that fire will never go out."
Welch left KORN in February 2005, noting that his newfound Christianity made it impossible for him to continue to play KORN's music and live the band's lifestyle. Since leaving the band, Welch has spent considerable time working with members of the Valley Bible Fellowship in Bakersfield, California, and has also been working on a solo album.
